juicer/fruit extractor

Hi everyone!
I am on a quest to a healthier lifestyle and would like to buy a juicer that will also extract from carrots/beetroot as well as normal citrus fruits. I have heard of "masticating" juicers, which seem enourmous and quite expensive but I do not know whether it's worth spending the extra money.
Tomorrow it's my birthday  so this is going to be my present.... any advice from already committed health gurus? also where is the best place to buy?
Thank you very much!

I bought one a couple of years ago after seeing them on the shopping channels and I thought it was more trouble than it was worth. It was really a faff to clean and I only used it about three times before I decided to send it back. Plus it took up alot of space on the work top and I have cupboards on the wall above all my worktop space and it was too tall to fit in the space between the top of the worktop and the bottom of the wall cupboard, so I had to put it right at the front which was not practical. I saw a similar juicer to the JLL on Ideal World last week and it looked just as good and quiet and it took whole fruits, but it seemed easier to clean and it was half the price at £40ish quid. Have a look on the Ideal World website www.idealworld.tv and see what you think.Jane

I don't have one, so I can't help, but there's a current thread on the Jack Le lanne juicer on the I wanna board where some people seem to think they're great.

I bought mine off ebay and i think they're brilliant
you get tons of juice out of the fruit and veg, and i find it so much easier to 'drink' my 5 portions of fruit and veg, rather than eating them!!

Looking for a juicer that actually gives half decent juice.
A friend of mine has one that gives green luquid when juicing apples, which is fine, only it tastes like crap.
I'm not expecting it to look and taste like the shop stuff but I'd like it to be palatable.
So does anyone have one that's decent? or are they all pretty much the same?
ThanksSigless0 -
your friend has the same thing my missus bought, from qvc some french blokes juicer system. it tastes like poo because the peel has been left on, peel it and it doesnt green and doesnt taste of poo.
it was way too expensive but i guess it depends what you want in a juicer, if you want one which just squeezes the juice from citrus fruit by pushing into it or you want one you can bung fruit into and it sorts out the juice from the flesh?
my missus ( sigh!) has just bought another one, again from qvc, this one however is very small and can actualy chop stuff aswell as be a juicer, it was £29.99 and is much better than the great big thing she bought 2 years ago and has used 5 times.
i found it is cheaper to actualy just buy the none concertrate juice from the shops.what is the plural of moose?

Thanks for the reply.
I'm looking for one for my mother, she's been going on for months now. Finally decided to just get her one lol.
So does the new one make juice that actually tastes like juice? not crap?Sigless0 -

Hi janeawej,
There are lots of threads on juicers on the I wanna board, so I'll move your thread over there for you.
If you look on the top right of that board you'll see ''search this forum''. If you click on that and type in the word juicer, you should see all the previous threads.
