  • Thank you weeowen67 for the tip, I will bare it in mind in the future. (I did actually search the web address and it only showed 2 entries that were the Game Over forum).

Geez, you people don't like new people do you? Clearly, I don't purposely post duplicate posts on here, so don't need to be spoken down to.

    Thanks again for the tip.

Sorry if you took any of the above as hostility to new people Claire. In no way was it meant to be.
Posting from Great British Lifes subsidary sites will probably result in a dupe as they tend to get posted on here via the main site. That's why I advised searching that way.

i dont think weeowen means anything bad by what he said hun.. weeowen seems one of the friendliest people on here, think he was just providing you with useful info. sometimes the search facility doesnt bring stuff up even for the more experienced people on here (not me!), so i wouldnt worry x oh and your posts are greatly appreciated too x *amended*
  • I just basically give up on posting as it is a pointless exercise, every comp out there has already been posted and so you constantly get people telling you that you have to read this you have to read that and ITS DAMN ANNOYING! I know the rules of the forum and as I appreciate that you are only trying to help, I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall. Especially as you are told one of the rules of the forum is that you need to post comps as well as enter them, I don't understand how you can do that when everyone has all comps covered?? Seriosuly? Is it just me??

No one is having a 'go' DC. Everyone jumps on a dupe not to be rude but to stop peeps entering the sme comp twice - often disqualifying themselves.

I am quite a new member, returning to comping after a break of many years. I like to try and post as many comps as I can to try and give back to the those that make such an effort. Everyone posts the odd dupe, especially as some have entries via several websites or publications. weeowen is a sweetie and was very welcoming when I joined - don't take the comments to heart, everyone was trying to be helpful not hurtful.

Now go find us a nice juicy comp.:D;)

Sorry dancingclaire - I don't think that is a rule, I'm not sure where you got that idea.

I started coming on MSE last March and joined in April when I posted the answer to a competition someone else had already listed. I 'skulked' before joining in and waited even longer before posting competitions, now I tend to post the odd competition when I find it, if it's not already on here, but even now I post duplicates (my first 'dupe' was one of weeowen's btw :o).

Everyone is friendly and is genuinely welcoming so please don't be put off - we tend to pounce on 'dupes' as some competitions are only one entry per person and you can be disqualified for entering twice. It's for that reason that merges are requested, a link to the duplicate MSE post put on and that is also the reason that duplicates are flagged up as soon as they are noticed

Good Luck with your comping Hun - don't be disheartened or take anything personally, believe me, it's not meant that way :)

kelly - just so you know, weeowen is a He ;)
