Long distance relationship help! Southampton -> Cardiff trains?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site but my dad suggested i gave it a go because it's often very helpful.
I'm 18 and devistated because my boyfriend has just left to study at cardiff university. We both lived in Southampton and so it is so horrible to not be able to see him whenever I like. I was hoping to be able to find some good money saving tips from Southampton to Cardiff on the train? As I am a student I don't have a lot of spare money, but I really want to be able to go and see him more.
Can anyone help? I've read a lot of the tips on here but they all seem pretty complicated and go over my head :P
Thanks a lot in advance....

Single from where you are to Cardiff are from £6. To get this fare you have to book by 6p.m. the day before you want to go but as fares are limited at this price, best to book as early as you can. If you select a £6 fare you will have to travel on the train you book.
Probably better for you is to buy a young persons railcard for £20 you can then buy a saver ticket for £19:80 return, this is a "walk up fare" which means you can buy it at the station, no pre-booking needed, much more flexibility.
CLICK for national rail site and then enter your journey, play about with times to get the best deals.0
