Travel to Disney ?? TGV

I'm looking at the TGV high speed train from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland Paris. Its a direct service that only takes 10 mins apparently and you can buy tickets online from RailEurope before you go. Does anyone know if this is a good service to use, is finding your train at CDG airport easy and is it best to buy your tickets before you go? The disney bus takes over an hour all in all so obviouly a 10 min journey appeals more.

Not sure about the train service
but as for finding the train, its a piece of cake
the train station is diretctly linked from the airport

for the record we have been earlier this year
however we stayed in Garnor, about 10 min's from CDG

it was 30-40 min's into central Paris on the bus
then 30-40 min's on the train fron central Paris to WDW
  • Does anyone know if this is a good service to use,
Yes but pricey (adults around 25 euros each I think).
It's on the line from Lille to the south of France. Trains are not so very frequent though, on average once an hour I think but not strictly one per hour.

is finding your train at CDG airport easy
CDG is quite a big airport, you will probably need to get on one of the free shuttle bus services to get from your terminal to the TGV station.

And is it best to buy your tickets before you go?
I don't think you would save money by doing so on this short journey, although by not doing so you run the risk of the train being full.
All TGV trains require obligatory reservations.

If you book in advance, your plane might be late and you could miss your train - although I would imagine (but I'm not sure) that it's possible to then exchange the ticket for a later train.
I know that if you want to go on an earlier train than the one on which you are booked, it's easy to exchange the ticket in a special TGV ticket exchange machine at the station.

Possibly I would find out the train times in advance, and decide at baggage reclaim whether to take the train (because planes are often delayed) or the coach, depending on whether a train is due soon. Then you could buy a train ticket at the station - there are often queues at the ticket windows but the ticket machines in the station do now accept British chip+pin cards.

Alternatively if the train is about to leave you could politely ask the ticket inspector on the platform before boarding (they are usually hanging around on the platform) if (s)he can sell you a ticket (there is about a 3 euro surcharge for doing so). If you get on without a ticket or speaking to the ticket inspector you risk being accused of fraud and having to pay a much greater penalty.

Incidentally, for people who are more cash-poor and time-rich, another way of getting to Disneyland is by local buses - for example take the bus to the town of Meaux and another bus from Meaux to Disneyland. Total cash price about 10 euros or, (even cheaper) about 6 carnet tickets (the same ones you use for the Paris metro) but it'll take at least 2 hours.

    Hope this helps
