Anybody else received an unsolicited MasterCard debit card from the "bank" U?
Came in the post this week with a real enough looking debit card with a single page letter - no mention of any application and certainly none has been made. ...
Hi foxa8m3, sorry to hear this. We completely understand how concerning this situation must be and would like to assure you we take instances like this extremely seriously.
Unfortunately, we're limited to what we're able to discuss with you regarding this account but can confirm the account will be frozen and a full investigation launched. To assist us in identifying the offending account, would you be able to contact us here: https://www.uaccount.uk/contact-us and confirm the name printed on the card and your full address. (This information will only be used for the purpose of identifying the account.) If you're uncomfortable providing this information over email, please supply a phone number and one of our specially trained agents will be in touch as soon as possible.
As soon as we've been in touch and confirmed we've successfully identified the account, please destroy the card.
As the account was opened by someone who knew your full postal address and date of birth, we strongly recommend that you contact the Police and refer to the Action Fraud website as soon as possible, for the next steps in protecting your identity and alerting you to any unauthorised use of your details: Action Fraud: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
As soon as this has been reported, we will be co-operative in liaising with the relevant authorities.
We'd also suggest checking your credit file for any other searches or indications of misuse of your details. You can find guidance on this, and details of ways to access a free version of your credit report here: https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/how-to-check-your-credit-report.
