ESA appeal, how long does it normally take

My partner has put in an appeal for ESA but we're not sure how long the process takes, does anyone know what the appeal time would be?
A letter was received a few days ago that they were looking into the decision and if they couldn't overturn it then it would go to a tribunal service, but for now it's in the appeal department.

Might be a difficult one to answer as ESA is a new benefit0

Its really too early to say how long they will take but at least with ESA you can still get the full personal allowance while on appeal. On IS/IB it would have been a reduced rate.0

Do you have to ask for the personal allowance or do they automatically give it to you?
The letter said it stopped towards the end of January but the letter was sent in February and no payments have been received since the beginning of February since I think they pay in arrears. The appeal was sent within the one month limit.
Thanks in advance.0 -
As long as the appeal is valid then you will automatically get the personal allowance. You dont have to apply for it as its a condition of the benefit.Do you have to ask for the personal allowance or do they automatically give it to you?

Why was the benefit disallowed BTW?

Hiya
The letter says "after attending a medical assessment it has been decided you do not have any limited capability for work".
Can you clarify what you mean about valid? The appeal was submitted within a month of the letter does that make it valid or is there something else. The letter received saying that they are looking at the decision again doesn't mention anything about receiving a payment while they look at it.

By 'Valid' I just meant that it was within the timescale and that it was an appealable decision.0
