worthwhile returning a loaf of bread???

Hi all, bought a loaf of bread at Aldi on 21st - still have the receipt and gone to open it today and use it for the kids sandwiches and it has green mould on it. The best before date is the 24th which is tomorrow.

Is it worth it really or should I just chuck it away? I am going back to Aldi anyway later likely to top up some more shopping. :)

If you are going there anyway and don't mind queuing up and waiting for the refund etc. you might as well take it back.

I would - I did the same at morrisons recently and got a free loaf as replacement.

Report it- there could be more and if a child were to help themselves from their parents shopping or a blind person were to take a slice...

Sounds like a normal loaf of bread from Aldi to me, I've even seen mouldy bread on a shelf with a reduced sticker on at that shop ;)

If it's from a brand like Hovis I'd contact them direct. I've done that before and they've sent me vouchers for free loaves.

Return it, they will probably replace it for you.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

    I would say yes too.

I recently started buying milk there as Iceland here has stopped stocking the 4pts skimmed for £1.10 and want 89p for the 2pts size. The Somerfield/Co-op next door is only stocking a 1% orange label low-fat version but I can't get used to it after using proper skimmed for 20+ years. So there is nowhere left in the town centre to get skimmed other than Aldi's, who charge 69p for the 2pts size. Anyway, the second time I bought it I opened it 2 days before the use by date (their's only has use by rather than both display until & use by) and it was already off. I can't remember the last time I had that problem with milk so it makes me think that either their distribution or their storage is not so good as the rest.

With my stomach it is- I only need to look at mould and I'm sick for a week! (highly sensitive stomach). :o
