Debt passed to a DCA

Can this be reversed? I have learned this morning that my Egg loan debt has been passed to an agency. The reason for this is that they have sent me letters to which they claim I have not responded (not true, I have two recorded delivery letters that prove I DID respond). and when I ang them lasst week to check that they had received the letters I was asked to ring through to another department. Which I did, I rang the department in question about 6 times and not once was the phone answered. So, my question, is if I can prove to them that I made every effort to contact them before their threat to pass the debt to an agency, will they re-take the debt back upon themselves or should I now resign myself to the fact that I will ned to deal with a DCA? Will it actually make it any easier or harder to come to an arrangement with the DCA than it was with Egg?

By the way - thanks to everyone who has advised me on other debt related matters over the past month or two on here - most of my creditors have now agreed to arrangements and although there is a long way to go to clear the outstanding debts I am finally managing to sleep at night becuase I no longer lie there worrying about all the imminent and regular failed direct debits and mounting bank charges.

Hi, I am having the same problem with Egg at the moment. I wrote to them in response to my debt, despite this it was still passed to DCA (like yours). I then wrote to the DCA (and faxed letters through) and they are still saying I haven't got in touch. I am going out of my mind  trying to actually get them to acknowledge any of my correspondence. Its now gone to a Solicitor, who is still saying that I have not been in touch.
Any advice would be great from someone who has had more luck than us two!!

I'm glad it's not just me then. The really weird thing is that I also had an egg credit card and I have been getting responses from them on that. They were slow to get going but I now have an arrangement with them for that particular debt. The loan though... no consistency, very frustrating.

I have been on a DMP two years now and most of mine are with DCA except Lloyds who I wish would pass onto one!

They are usually more willing to accept payment plans, less likely to go for a CCJ so long as you keep up payments and more willing to settle further down the line. Oh and usually interest is stopped.

that's good news, thanks.I've been told to wait for the initial letter so I guess it's just a matter of delaing with them as soon as posisble and getting everything in writing from this point forwards.

I think you see horror stories about DCA on here but the majority are from people avoiding or who have moved. I even deal with Capquest and sent them an offer of what I can afford and they accepted it until apparently 2045 - I haven't complained!

The first letters you normally get from there are colourful and will have contact us now immediately on this number blah blah blah - just send them the same offer of payment letters you have been and take it from there. They are just like your original creditors and have no more powers than them.
