A good firend is setting up a coffee shop and I just wondered, does anyone have a list or ideas of things that can easily be forgotten ? is there somewhere on the web with such a list at all.
When you have to cover staff - holidays, handbook, etc
And all the rest there is a lot, so any ideas ?

Maybe there's a local business group that can give you some help.Get in touch with your library and they should have some contacts.0

If she is employing staff then she will need to get some Employers Liability insurance. To get some business help and advice, she should contact Business Link or even her local Chamber of Commerce as they run easy courses on Marketing, Finance, Legal stuff, etc. They will even show how to do a proper business plan to enable her to gain funding more easily.
She will need to contact the DWP and the HMRC too - they are helpful and offer free advice as well as providing some free training on how to fill in a tax return and will send some information on how to set up as self-employed.

Also don't forget first aid training and a suitable first aid kit. HSE expect there to be provision for first aid to be administered to staff (even a sole trader must be able to administer first aid to them selves!). Strangely, there is no liability to treat customers.
