Friday 27/06/2008 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today i will:
  • Clicks
  • Check online banking
  • Update spreadsheets
  • Storecupboard lunch
  • Work on veggie garden
  • Make a loaf in breadmaker
  • Cook for oldies and eat tea for free:D
  • Not spend any money
Morning people, feeling a bit down this morning as a fellow dfw from the £4000 challenge unexpectedly lost her husband yesterday, seems to put everything into perspective doesn't it?
So tell the people you love what they mean to you regularly as you never know when they will be taken away from you. Janey51, sending you lots of love for the tough times ahead:smileyhea .

Catch up with you all later.
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

Aww hugs to Janet, we're thinking of you darling.

My list today is HUUUUGEEE thanks to an impending my my MIL, who makes Kim & Aggie look like dirty slobs.
    • Order DD's birth certificate for school
    • Write to mortgage company to get them to pay the solicitor (seeing as it was their fault the sale fell through grrrrr)
    • File the household paperwork before it avalanches and buries us all
    • Chase the return of my course fees for the missold course I did - that will pay off 2 debts so fingers crossed.
    • Chase up the statements from the ex landlord to prove to him we paid the rent, and get back the rest of the deposit (already proved we'd paid the majority of what he claimed, just can't fin any more paying in slips!)
    • plan the activities for DD this weekend - print out worksheets, must try to find the homeschooling links a fellow DFW posted
    • change the beds, wash and get out to dry while its a good drying day
    • Put a load of books on Amazon
    • Make some H/M sausgae rolls for lunchboxes
    • Write to Thmas Cook to get our deposit back - that will clear the rest of the smally debts!
    • Make mashed pots from some elderly spuds to freeze for 'ready meals'
    • Draw out money to pay MIL for OH's waistcoat
    • Put white loaf in BM
    • Dust Front Room
    • Hoover and mop through
    • Daily clicks
    • Check budget spreadsheet for this payday
    • Write list of Direct Debits to change accounts
Plus said I'd meet a freind for coffee later, s if my green light's still on in 10 minutes yell at me!

Phew, now I've scared myself! GL to everyone, and have a cheap day!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500

    sophies mum :(
Really makes you feel so lucky when something like this happens. Then makes you feel guilty for not realising before. :(

A lady in my office lost her 11 year old daughter a few months ago. She lost a daughter about 10 years ago to the evil "c", had another daughter- who was taken this year to pneumonia. Cruel cruel world.
Makes you feel a bad person for not realising what you had before hand.

    :(

Mind you, means the spare's a dodgy one but that'll have to wait for another month I guess.

    Hi All

    Today I have:
    • Done piggyclicks and lightspeed checks
    • Checked online banking
    • All meals out of storecupboard/freezer
    • Walked into town to save £3 bus fare to go to Weightwatchers meeting (I am a helper so don’t pay…). Lost 3½lbs :j (I can really recommend this redundancy-diet!!) and gained a free Weightwatchers magazine (worth £1.75) from my leader. Got back and tracked the distance on the computer and discovered that it was a 4 mile walk each way…how cheapskate am I for the sake of £3 now I am “time-rich” and “cash-poor”?!?! :rotfl:
    • Bought a whole chicken in Tesco on the way home, which had been reduced to less than half price. It was one of their more expensive ones (you know…the happy, well-loved variety much supported by Hugh F-W!) but reduced to less than the price I could have paid for one of the “unhappy, unloved, reared in a pitch-black barn with 3 million of its cousins”-type, so I am pleased with this – I do like to try and be ethical if I manage to do so on budget! ;) Now I have handed it over to Mr P so that he can rubber-ize it within an inch of its being, and feed us for the next 3 weeks on it!! :p
    • Found 4 x 1p coins on my very long walk. Not enough to retire on, but it made me smile… :D
    • Bought 3 x avocado from Lidl for 20p each (good size ones, too - very happy!:T), together with a whole pineapple for 59p and an iceberg lettuce for 37p - who says you can't get your 5 a day on a budget...?!:D
Hugs to Janey51 :grouphug: – I am so sorry to hear your very sad news…

    Piglet
