New Deal Is A Shambles

hello all, im currently on a New Deal programme, (ive been unemployed 6 months). from day 1 it has been a complete waste of time. i have tried and tried for work and at the moments cant seem to get anything yet when i was in work it was so easy to move to another job
. anyway as i was saying im currently on a new deal programme, the 'tutors' are patronising, they treat people like children ( at the center im at anyway).
since being there (4 weeks) we have coloured in a poster, yes you did read right, sat in rooms allday doing absolutely nothing, plenty of newspapers around but they usually have jobs that are out of date so therefore cant apply, they have p.cs aswell to look for work online, they dont have enough, i was filling an online application form and was told to get of the p.c. as i needed to attend a module upstairs, this module comprised of sitting upstairs with no 'tutor' with out of date newspapers doing nothing with about 15 others for 4 hours, this is the same day after day. apparantly the 'tutors' get £1,500 bonus if they get you a job, hhhmmm one thinks.
oh yes we had a practice of filling in an application form on one occasion. they say they get you a placement in work, well ive been there 4 weeks im still waiting, as is plenty others, i found out today my 'tutor hasnt even phoned anyone for me, (after all i cant do this myself can i), the best is yet to come - we have to be there at 9 dinner break at 12 for half an hour then finish at 4.
today at about 11 i saw a rat out the back (a scruffy alley way where you can go for a smoke) if health and safety were to visit even before the rat they would of been in trouble there are things like spikes lying in mouldy cardboard boxes ect, i saw a rat they said oh ok,
. at 11.30 we were all told to leave the center and dont come back till 1, i have no money and had to walk around a town center for an hour and a half, i went back at 1, and was told i couldnt go in like all the others, so there was about 40 of us loitering outside, we had to stay there while all the staff were sitting inside, it was raining. at 1.30 they came out and said 'oh meet us at the bowling center in 15 minutes, ( i cant beleive all this cr*p), i hate bowling, but thats not the point, im 46 years old, i was told i had no option but to go. im foaming. i asked what was going on they said oh we dont know, just do as your told
im told if i dont attend and comply on this waste of time programme my benefits will be stopped, i could in effect loose my home
. i am so angry annoyed and frustrated, i have told my advisor at the job center that we do nothing all day she ignored me. so i have another 9 weeks of this cr*p, am told if i dont have a job by the end i will be sent back for 26 weeks. i am fuming,
its a disgrace and a shambles.

Welcome to the wonderful world of ET.
You are now no-longer unemployed, and are instead "training" and so are providing the wonderful public service of "Improving Government Statistics".
Have a look out for other training providers. Some are less "cattle shops" than others. I believe you can transfer from one to another - but don't know the circumstances of that.
They are eager to have you, because you would then provide them with the wonderful public service of "Getting Government Money"."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Another Government initiative to show how few people are actually unemployed! These schemes make my blood boil! I feel for you, I really do.
Could you sign on to any agencies and do some agency work for a while whilst you look for a better/permanent job?
Good luck whatever you do, sounds like you need it.

Hi Jack,
Could you sign on to any agencies? Surely doing some agency work is better than paying out to go to playschool!
Good luck, sounds like you need it.

Before I was made redundant in February I had no clue even where my local Job centre was- how I wish I'd never found it! Although the staff were generally pleasant enough they had very little interest in me or my situation, and were certainly no experts in careers or jobs. I received no advice or practical help whatsoever in terms of work. Their sole aim seemed to be in advising what benefits I could claim and once they found out that I couldn't claim more than the basics they kind of lost interest in me. I don't think that I was an 'exciting' enough case for them!
The whole system seems geared to actually keeping people out of the workforce and on benefits rather than offering practical help to genuine job seekers. So I totally sympathise with you jack. Mind you, I did find work and hopefully you will soon too - I'll bet it won't be any thanks to the Job centre though!0 -
As a new dealer could you go back to college for free?
Please ask because then you could learn a new trade or get some extra qualifications that could land you that all important job also employers like to see that you have kept yourself busy whilst unemployed.
It would certainly be a better option that the 'course' you are doing now.
you may also be able to get extra money for transport living costs etc from the college.
