Royal Mail Pension - AVC question

Hubby currently has 14 years in a Royal Mail pension and pays around £75 a month. He is 47 and would like to retire at 60. Luckily he has an understanding young wife (currently a youthful and beautiful 35 year old:rotfl: ) who will still be working during the period when he won't be and can't claim his pension, so I can smooth the transition.
We would like to boost our retirement income over the coming years, starting with AVCs - only about £50 to begin with but rising over the years - and are considering either Royal Mail's Bonus Plan or Flexi Plan. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these plans and the funds in them?
