Help please - cookery at school

Can anyone help me ? My daughter is making coconut macaroons at school and the receipe say cream of tartar. Is this the same as tartar sauce ?

I asked at sainsburys this morning and they just looked at me as if I was mad puting tartar sauce in cakes.

    No, it's like a baking powder sort of thing. Asdas do it, it'll be with the baking stuff.
    This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
