Butchers - west yorkshire

I live in between Huddersfield and Halifax and am looking for a good quality reasonably priced butcher. There is one in HUddersfield market, that puts the meat on trays, but the trays are misleading and you think you are getting more than you are. Anywhere else anyone has spotted?

Places with meat on trays are a little dodgy in my experience.

I'm aware of 3 decent butchers (In order):
-Mitchells, station rd, near station. Reasonably priced and friendly.
-One on Trinity road, Marsh, by the co-op. This is probably closest to you.
-Sharlands, Paddock. Although it keeps very short opening hours.

Have you seen Haigh's farm? It's off the Huddersfield to leeds rd (past the Three Nuns pub, turn left before Whitegates Garden centre)
They sell good old fashioned "real" meat....it actually tastes of something! Their rump steak tastes better than posh fillet from Sainsbury's... and the pork chops... mouth watering!
Mince is around £1 a pound if you buy in bulk and has less fat than any brand I have bought.
It's also the cheapest place I have found too, even cheaper than the wholesalers I go to.
They also sell frozen goods (usually de-branded top stores)which as about as cheap as you are ever going to find and also their home made pies are to die for
Their eggs are not only cheap but they actually have yellow yolks!
If you want your meat nicely placed on a plastic tray this is not for you though, it IS a farm

and before anyone asks I do not have shares in the farm but the amount I spend there, they should at least offer me some!

Hi Jaqui yes, off slipper lane? Been in, but didn't buy meat for some reason. Will go on down. I have tried another farmshop in Birstall that was rated, but I really thought the quality wasn't good. the mince was very gristly. Will try Haigh's.There used to be PYO near there, incidentally know of any PYO's open this year. This closed as has the one further up Leeds rd
