Hey all,
I will be doing a year abroad as part of my university course next year. It's gonna be hard because it will mean this site won't be as relevant for me anymore..:P Therefore, I'm looking for any good such resources for the US..or anything you think would be useful for someone just going to live there. Stuff like moneysavingexpert/hukd have really helped me spend less and still enjoy life! But really anything would help, even just direct advice would be great.
The other thing is that I need to get a flight over there, more precisely to Los Angeles..I haven't started looking yet but I think I will try lastminute and airline-network for starters. Don't know what else to look at yet though..I know google is full of websites but if anyone has had good prices for a particular one it would be very helpful!
Also whilst living there it would be nice to find a Ryanair/Easyjet-like cheap flights website so I can travel around and see different places during my holidays..so anything like that if anyone can share, thanks a lot!!

I wish I could offer advice, but I, too, am looking for a similar MSE site for the US - the best I could find are scam blogs or sites wanting to sell my personal id for junk mail and spam etc....makes me miss the UK!!

I used to live in the US and have used these websites at one time or another:
For various deals, coupons, etc, try FatWallet:
http://www.fatwallet.com/
For cheap internal flights try SouthWest airlines: http://www.southwest.com/
For random cheap flight, hotel, car hire deals, try TravelZoo:
http://www.travelzoo.com/
Hope that helps,

Hey Snake, thanks for the stretcher, seems useful

I've also used freecycle in general quite a lot, big communities around here too.
Also if others are reading, for price comparisons try www.pricegrabber.com and www.pricerunner.com.
For flights www.sidestep.com www.spiritair.com
For bus/coach www.greyhound.com
They might be really obvious for US citizens but for me they weren't
Anyway Snake, I'm in Santa Barbara, how about you?
And..found any other good sites?0
