Fuming at Abbey, what to do?

My debts is under control and i've never missed a payment, in fact that account was empty before the balance transfer.
I dont have a problem with them calling at all, it is the manner in which they called, thay said they had put a lock on my account so nobody would have been able to use it if there was a fraud problem and yes i would have phoned back as i dont have any issues with them or any of my other cards and i knew it would be about the balance transfer.
I do understand what you are saying and i did wonder if i'd gone off the deep end but i dont feel there was any need to elabarate on the fact they are from Abbey.
Also on the internet there is a box for you to put in the number you want them to contact you on and they completely ignored it!Debt Now~Total-£14,366.72~CC-£1,600.00~Sofa-£1,349.01~Loan-£11,417.71

It is also a blatant breach of data protection. within financial regulation all you can say is who you are and where you are calling from and please call back, not what it's about or even something that will give the person at the end of the phone any idea of what it is about until they are sure it is you they are speaking to. good on you for complaining.debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Stop worrying, I think it's all a bit of a misunderstanding. I agree that it's a horrifying thing to experience, and banks should know better than to tell people that the fraud squad is after their daughter/employee, but I think that Abbey were just ringing to check whether OP was aware of an unusual transaction that had been made on their account - they were worried that fraud was being committed by a third party, not the OP.
If you're going to write to them (and I think you should) make sure to tell them that the way they introduce themselves is potentially damaging and highly embarrassing, and suggest that they rethink their policies.0 -

It would have saved so much stress if they'd actually explained a bit more to your Mum - why didn't they just explain that they were concerned that a fraudulent transaction had been made.0 -
Just found out they've put a nice big black mark on my credit file because they refused to sort out the account. Now will have to talk to them to get it sorted.Barclaycard 3800

Would you rather they hadn't phoned you and had potentially allowed a fraudulent transaction to take place that had been flagged up by their systems? They weren't to know that it was you who had set the whole balance transfer going.......
Personally, I don't mind - same as I don't mind NatWest putting a mark on my card when I do a BIG shop at the Trafford Centre, meaning that the next store has to call them & verify who I am.0 -
I agree with floss and if you just said you were setting up a funds transfer and it was a courtesy call then no one would be the wiser. Its your over reaction which sounds a tad guilty.0

I would just like to point out again as i did above i have absolutely no issue with them calling to check the transaction or putting my account on hold until they had spoken to me.
My point is the manner they identified themselves. All that was needed was can you ask him to contact Abbey please. Not im from Abbey fraud squad.Debt Now~Total-£14,366.72~CC-£1,600.00~Sofa-£1,349.01~Loan-£11,417.71
