Debt to management company.

Last year (infact almost a year to the day) we moved house. Our old flat was subject to a Factor (scottish management company). The building needed a cosmetic repair and we were all asked to lodge the thick end of £500 as our estimated part share. This money was lodged with the factor for months and months and nothing was done.

We moved and our balance was £440 in credit. the factor asked for a £200 retention to be held by our solicitor. The work still wasn't done.

In October, 4 months after we moved, the factor refunded all the money to us via our solicitor. Now they want it back.

Are we still eligible to pay this money for a house we haven't lived in for a year even though they had the money and sent it back to us?

They're also not wildly forthcoming with the actual bill for the work. can we ask for a complete statement of account like we could with any other debt?
