I spent a day on the phone on Monday and it looks like things are back on now - the person who deals with DOPs advised that the problem was with the amount we were borrowing extra so she went away and worked out how much extra we would be allowed to borrow in order for them to agree to postpone. I gave this figure to National Guarantee who are continuing with the application based on this. So hopefully we can still go ahead and do what we planned to but I'm not getting my hopes up again until everything is set in stone.

Thanks to everyone who replied and gave me advice it was greatly appreciated.
  • Just to let you know I am going through something not too dis-similar.
I have a mortgage with IF (1st charge) and a secured loan with EPF (second charge).
I am in the process of remortgaging the first charge with First Active (can't afford to combine them both unfortunately).
I got my letter today asking for £120 which I was pondering over. They have re-credit scored me (which I didn't know would happen) and to be fair things seem to be going smoothly.
However, the quality of information you get differs depending on who you get hold of. Don't take their word for it if you are not sure, keep asking and asking.
    FInger's crossed.

its nice to know someone else is dealing with EPF too - we are close to completion again as NG have now given the new figure to EPF but when I called EPF they said that when they first spoke to me about only borrowing £9k it was Enact who had sent in the offer and not NG. To cut a long story short Enact were dealing with a mortgage switch to FirstActive but took that long and never answered my correspondence so i gave up on them - but sods law they have to get involved now to confuse matters. EPF are now saying that the offer made by NG is still too high even though it is what they asked for. I pointed out that the document they received included the charges which they told me previously isn't taken into acccount. I told them that Monday i will fax her the key factors document and highlight the actual amount we are borrowing minus the figures. She came over all dumb then and said that she will speak to her more experienced colleague on Monday. I am even more fed up and stressed out now as everytime we get close to completion EPF mess things up. I now have my creditors asking for money by the end of this week that i cannot afford to pay - some of my credit cards have been passed to Agencys and they are threatening legal action if i don't pay up by the end of the month.

On top of the stress of this i have to call EPF tomorrow for the DOP form completion over the form so they can do a credit search - i too didnt know that this was necessary as i am already with them and Gmac have accepted me on my current credit rating. What is worrying me is that since this debacle began 2 of my cards have defaulted me and i feel that this will be the final nail in this remortgage. If they refused to postpone because of this and the whole thing gets called off i dont know what i will do.

Any advice or similar experiences that anyone can share with me to stop my skin from flaking, hair from thinning, blood pressure rising, stomach boiling, would be greatly appreciated as again and i am at the end of my rope and more desperate than ever. in short i have no fight left in me - i used to get angry at people not doing their job properly and affecting others lives but now i am just ready to lie down and take the kicking thats coming to me.
  • Before EPF can get their money your first mortgage may need to be paid off.
You now wish to add £10,000 to your (New) first mortgage.
This would make the New Mortgage more of a concern to EPF.
On the other hand if you were to remortgage, to a better mortgage, for the same amount as the existing mortgage, then this should be OK by EPF although there would be a £120 fee involved.
If in fact you were able to add your Credit Card debts to your mortgage you might be inclined to run up some more credit card debts.

I wont be taking out more debt on my cards and they aren't being added to the mortgage - i will be using the extra to clear them. I can't and won't run up more as my cards are cancelled now anyway and i doubt i would be able to take out new cards anyway even if i wanted to.
