I'd like to treat my wife on her 40th birthday at a posh London Hotel like the Savoy etc. Anyone got any tips on getting a 5* West End hotel cheap please?

Hi
The best way to get a great deal on a top London hotel is to book through
https://www.priceline.co.uk
I have booked 5 * hotels in London , amsterdam, New York and Prague with these and never been dissapointed.
You choose your area, the star rating and how much you want to spend and the site will find the hotel for you.
Essentially you are booking blind , but you cannot go worng as you have chosen your area and star rating.
I usually start low ( about £55 ) per room per night and get rejected !!!
then you have to wait a couple of days before you can do the same search or change your area . I then up my price slightly and keep doing this till I get what I want. I have never paid more than £ 80 for a night.
I have stayed in the following
REnaissance 5*.Prague £55 per night
Renaissance 5*Amsterdam £62 per night
Thistle Horseguard London ( 4 star) £40 per night
Hilton 4* london $52 per night
Grosvenor 5* London £ 95 per night...this one was amazing we had an apartment!!!!
Marriott Times square 4 * this was the most amazing location wwe paid £40 ( list price about ( $ 400)
Marriott on lexington avenue..amazing ( list price $425 dollars) we paid £60
So as you see you really cannot go wrong.
good luck

http://www.laterooms.com/ here you can get some really good hotels 5* etc at really low prices but only a few days before (although I have got some good ones a week before).
There is a good trick here though, book a reasonable hotel in the normal way but make sure what the cancellation policy is, most are fine often right up to the same day, the day before is nearly always fine.
Keep checking late room and when you find the deal you want book it then cancel your expensive hotel that was only a back up plan..0 -
The best offer i booked for london in nov is the 'sunborn Yacht hotel' on docklands. Rooms are £185.
Laterooms are doing special rate of £69 and Amazing reviews everywhere.
Go to late rooms website - type your date and choose london - Although the hotel wont come up in the list it will be advertised on the side featured panel.
Definate bargain - Check it out0
