Does anyone know how long casings last?

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how long I can keep casings in brine in the fridge? Also, do I need to change the brine or not.

Thanks in advance.

Most casings have a storage time of 12months.I am assuming they are natural casings not collagen that you have stored in the brine? As for changing the brine dont bother they will be fine.Even if they get a bit whiffy they are still perfectly fine to use just give them a good rinse first

Sorry - I should have said sausage skins.

Thanks Lesley for your adivce, yes they are natural ones. I hope to use them all before they get whiffy though, I have bought enough to make 10lbs of sausage.
