I have been told I can get a Costco card because of who I work for. Can anybody please tell me if it is worth getting one. I would probably only go about 3-4 times a year.

Hi wendy,
I have a costco card. The food is top quality and worth it only if you haven't got time to glean the best supermarket offers and want top notch grub.

Hi we joined at the weekend and what me & my friend have done is share the membership. Costco told me I could join and then the spouse card can go to who ever you want & I queried it saying a friend, and they let us do that. This way the membership price is just under £15 each.
We spent a fortune on Sat, they sell everything. Some of the stuff seems cheaper than the shops, meat is very good quality, so is the cakes, and fruit.
At the moment they have a offers leaflet with money off stuff which we decided to use against some of our items.
I think you need to be aware of the prices/prices elsewhere as not everything seemed a good buy.
The little cafe in the miltonkeynes store (am sure they are all the same)was very cheap: jacket potato and filling for £1.25, hotdog & large (refillable)soft drink £1.50
I think it is worth joining, wont be going every week but certainly 3-4 times a year.

Hi
Thanks for the replies and the link. I was not sure what they sold as you think of trade warehouses as selling everything in bulk and was not sure if it was worth getting an individual membership. The nearest one to us is 50 miles away so wanted to make sure it would be worth going.0 -
I keep meaning to become a Costco member but my nearest one is a little bit too far away too. At the moment, I go to Makro which does pretty much the same stuff. They're really good for bedding and things like washing powder or if you need loads of food for a party. They also have really good deals on electricals which they post through to you every few weeks so that you know what deals are on before you go.
Although I've heard great things about Costco food, especially their muffins, so I may just have to travel that extra distance and become a meber of both.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Costco is great - though I do find that when I go we do spend quite a bit! We find that even after petrol and membership costs we do still save quite a bit of money. It's just painful because you have to spend quite a bit in one go to save anything.
The quality of the food can't be beaten really - the muffins are lovely and huge! If you are a meat lover, I can tell you it's fantastic quality and tastes great - we often spend about £60 a time but the meat will fill up our freezer and keep us going for two/three months (can especially recommend the lamb, the Aberdeen Angus, and the salmon). Electrical items are good too (all good brand names) and if I remember rightly are covered by a 3 year warranty.
I find we save the most money on stuff like washing powder, cat food and dishwasher tablets - bought some a couple of weeks ago and it was at least half the price of what they would have cost in the supermarket. And if you've got a sweet tooth - a big tub of Jelly Belly beans for about £12-£13 (they are really expensive in the shops).
Plus they've got a great food stall as well - so when you've come through the checkout you can get a piece of pizza, a chicken and ham wrap (yummy!), a hotdog or a muffin and a large soda which you can then refill as many times as you want.If I have been of any assistance, or my information is useful, please press the "Thanks" button0
