Best Credit card deals for the S.E.

I'm trying to get my finances in order and I realise that I may have to do a balance transfer, since I've only got the one credit card I will have to apply for another. My worry is that I won't get the best deals because I am self employed and am not a high earner.
Applying for cards has an effect on your credit rating so ideally I want to apply for a card I am likely to get. I don't have any ccj's and I never miss payments. What are the best cards and deals out there for me? Any help wpould be much appreciated.
