Question about using vouchers/coupons at ASDA

So I know we're all Tesco mad on here, but my nearest Tesco is a 30mile drive away (completly uneconomical...although I do make the best of online shopping!)

Anyway - I recently went to use a large amount of printed coupons at Asda (self serve scanning) and all the coupon entry points were taped shut on the machines, with notices saying that coupon entry was not available.

I asked a supervisor and she said it was because all coupons had to be checked and they weren't planning to allow coupons through the self-service scanners again any time soon.

So I had to cancel my transaction, queue up and go through the whole process again whilst an assistant spent about 10minutes checking each voucher and refused to allow any that didn't correspond to a product I had purchased.

 Sigh.

So - what are everybody elses' experiences of Asda?

Most Asdas will allow you 10% off your bill using nss (non store specific) coupons.

Some, if you are lucky and get a nice cashier, will allow you more but bear in mind, my Asda still has a 9 coupon limit.

Once you hand over 9 coupons the till asks for authorisation, if you have a nice cashier who is scanning good coupons for you, make sure you only hand over eight!

I used a few coupons in ASDA whilst on holiday and there was a limit on number of coupons but unsure what it was. Anywayu, it called the supervisor and I thought they were going to refuse them but she just keyed in a code and didn't even check. I was very happy!
