I'd think a good hairdresser would be able to do something with it, but I don't know what this would cost, especially if it's long hair that needs re-colouring.. :(
Perhaps there are some hairdressers here who could better advise?

Hi I am a mobile hairdresser hope I can help!

A good hairdresser will be able to strip the colour out with a special product, and re-dye it for her. It will cost a fair bit, especially if she has long hair. Some places (not sure where but I know it is available) offer a process where the hair is taken back to "virgin" state, it removes all dyes apart from bleach and nourishes the hair so it is just like hair that has never been dyed. This is pretty pricey though.
An MSE way to remove colour is to use timotei shampoo. It is not recommended by hairdressers for normal use as it strips out colours! Buy a couple of bottles and wash it several times, really scrubbing at the scalp with the fingertips and squeezing the suds through the hair. It will definitely tone it down a few shades.
After a few washes with it she could put a toner on it, which should take out the coppery sheen. Try an ash or similar.

    Hope this helps!!

I'm in Manchester so can't really recommend anywhere up there, but make sure it is a reputable salon. You really get what you pay for.
