I have just been offered a full time job but have only ever worked part time, if the pay is £11,000 per year can anyone give me an idea how much tax i will be paying a month?

Assuming you are on that wage for a complete tax year, and have no additional allowances or deductions other than the personal allowance, then you will be taxed approx £91 per month.

Don't forget you also have to pay NI

The following amounts apply for the 2005-2006 tax year:
    If you're employed

    • if you earn above £94 a week (the 'earnings threshold') and up to £630 per week you pay 11 per cent of this amount as 'Class 1' NICs
    • you also pay one per cent of earnings above £630 a week as Class 1 NICs
    • you will pay a lower amount as an employee if you are a member of your employer's pension scheme

You can use the following "net pay calculator" to get the accurate figures if you wish:-

    http://www.wellwoodhoyle.com/ard/calculators/payslip.asp?AID=326&SID=11&FID=5380

    Tax £90.97
    Employees NIC £56.06
    Net pay per month £769.63

If you have been earning less than say £7,000 p.a. the tax may be less to use up personal allowances and the lower rate band that has not been fully used from April 05 to date. Tax is computed on a year-to-date basis.
