After the high comes the low....

Hey guys, well after the high comes the low... today has been tough, tough, tough. OH and I have fallen out because I am becoming (am!!) obsessed with the detail of money saving.... He is right... but I'm not telling him that.
We've had words over his spending (only £20 for god sake, I have lost it!!) and believe it or not over how many choc bars the children have eaten and it is only Tuesday.
He has told me to stop talking about money for one night (but in much stronger words...)
I'm feeling guilty and a bit sad that I am taking it all to seriously... then on the other hand, mad that he isn't taking it AS seriously.
Anyone been here?
xxx:(

Oh and yes I understand what you're saying. Sometimes its annoying when those around us aren't thinking EXACTLY how we are...0 -
Hi Ruby
Sorry to hear that OH is being a bit of a 'challenge', I don't share my finances (or home) with my OH so thankfully have a much smaller version of this (ie endlessly explaining why we can't go out for dinner - ie it isn't left in my budget) but there are lots of other posters on here that have had exactly the same problem that you have.
Maybe give it a few days without mentioning money and then try to sit him down and get him involved in setting the budget, working out payments etc and see if that helps him to be more supportive.
Or you could take a frying pan to his skull, infinitely more satisfying if also quite a bit more illegal (can debt be collected from you when you are in prison?).
I guess we all have our lightbulb at different times, which is fine but if you are with someone that hasn't had their lightbulb yet then it can be really difficult.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

I need to chill.... thanks for that I like the idea of the frying pan right now, come to think of it I like the idea of different houses.....
I am going to zip it for a few days and see if the mood changes...

You wait until you start fondling the £2 coins, and have to update your spreadsheets as soon (and I mean the second) anything changes.
Seriously though - is OH 'on board' and just more laid back, or is he still trying to ignore the debt? I must drive mine mad, but he soon clams up once I show him my daily clicks total........This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0 -

That made me laugh so much.... haven't started the fondling yet... but I'm already at the spreadsheet stage..... ha ha
His is on board, but is no where near as impatient and detail obsessed as I am, so we just have to find a happy medium. I think if I'm fair the problem is me and so I am going to give myself a stiff talking to....:o
