What to buy for people in China?

Hi all,
I'm going over to China soon and wish to get presents for members of a Chinese family.
What are good items from the U.K. to take over?
They seem to have most things you can get in the U.K.
People have told me that there are certain things that they do get from the U.K., e.g
- Clarkes Shoes
- Bailey's Irish Cream
- various whiskies
But I can't think of what gifts to take over.
I was thinking for the son to get something like a Nintendo DS which they don't have, but the problem with that is that it requires the person to be able to read English (or Japanese I guess).
Any ideas?
