Desperate for help please! Capital One/Debitas/Fredrickson Int

Not sure what to do so any advice would be most welcome!

Have been making token payments since Jan, our situation not improved enough to change amounts yet and overall everything as good as it can be, have kept them up to date with everything, payment beginning of the month etc. All that is except Capital One who needed other confirmation of income/exp constantly, couldn't agree to amount, wouldn't freeze interest and add that, plus late payment charge every month.

Had a barrage of missed calls and worked out it was Capital One, spoke to them a couple of times, repeating circumstances and made no difference so just kept on with token payment, Rec'd letter each month which basically said thank you but amount isn't covering arrears, doh! Last week rec'd default notice and this week rec'd firstly a letter form Debitas saying they are collecting outstanding balance. Don't want to ring so was going to write to them but then the next day recieve a letter from Fredrick International saying they are collecting the Capital One debt. So they apparently both want me to pay them the o/s balance:confused: I've also had loads of calls (answered a couple and phone put down but messages never left) so stopped answering and seriously considering changing number.

Anyway 1st question is what the hell do i do now? I really really don't want to speak to them and i want them to stop ringing me so if i wrote to them stating that i can't afford more than the token payment at present and to please communicate in writing what is the chance that they will agree? Also who should i be writing to? Don't understand why theres 2 chasing 1 debt?

Help anyone please, I'm desperate and a little apprehensive of whats ahead now.

Thank you

    Hi 7 Day,

Have you spoke with one of the debt charities??? CAB CCCS National debtline etc

I would suggest you give them a ring so they can fully evaluate your position. The token payments will not clear the debts in full but just give you breathing space. If your circumstances arent likely to improve then they may be able to offer a more constructive way to address your debts.

  • Hi

Yes spoke to them back in january and went through everything and was advised to offer token payments for now as no other funds available for dmp which is what we are aiming for. Have car finance which we are hoping to settle soon when i sell my car and then money can come from what we save there but fixed mortgage rate ends in november so not sure what hike that may entail. Aaaaarggggh.

I wil call cccs again tomorrow though, if anything it makes me feel a lot better after speaking to them as they are so calming as well as helpful!

    Thanks
