Yorkshire Bank

I saw that Hulltrucker said he recently opened an account with Yorkshire bank and got a Maestro card. Is this still available ? I thought I read somewhere that you could only get a debit card with Barclays or Coop.

As far as I am aware the Co-op cashminder (visa electron) and Barclays cash account (no card) are the only 2 accounts available too BR's.
It's always worth trying the Yorkshire and see what they say and let us know.:)
EDIT: Hulltrucker is discharged from BR which will make a difference.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I can confirm that the Yorkshire/Clydesdale Ready Cash account is open to discharged bankrupts. I am one, and applied a week after discharge.
The lady who opened it for me was training someone, and explained to her trainee "we don't credit check this account, so tick this box......".
They do run an identity check though, so worth being on the electoral roll I suspect.
I can highly recommend them.
I had to go bankrupt in order to find the best bank I've ever been with.
Ironic when you think about it.0 -

Couldn't agree more. I assume you are discharged then, because they do say that they dont accept undischarged bankrupts.
Pleased you went with it though. I get the feeling that with some banks basic accounts they treat customers as second class. Not so with Yorkshire. You get all the same facilities and are treated exactly the same. In fact the Readycash account is the current account without the chequebook and overdraft. In fact I've noticed from their own Readycash page they're pleased with themselves.0
