Really Unsure how to Handle this Advice Please

I have been in a DMP with Payplan for the last two years where I pay £203.00 a month. Long story but basically typical stupid woman who allowed herself to keep a younger man :o who felt that work was not something he needed to do, this invoved me paying off £15,000 of his debts :o I know I know! Anyhow to cut a long story short.....ended up in 50K's worth of debt despite having an income of 29K a year and when I could no longer afford him he left just don't say it ok! I had a breakdown and had to leave job, hence fact that for the last two years I have been doing temporary work (Can't hack the high powered job anymore) and my earnings have gone down to about £7,200 a year or £600 take home a month. Did everything I could to release as much of this money as possible,i.e gave up nice rented house and moved into shared house at cost of £200 per month, gave away pets, etc so that I free up £203.00 per month to go into debt management Plan.

Last August I met a wonderful guy who is 20 years older than me and was planning to retire to Cyprus...he came over here in May and I sent me a ticket to come over for a holiday in June, anyhow to cut a verbose post short, when over here on hols I was offered a job, full time earning 650 cyp a month (evuavalent of what I was earning in UK) I have been working here now for 4 months and paying my salary into my UK account to cover my Payplan DMP.

Ok Here's the question....I have received a letter from one of my Creditors asking for an increase in payment, I referred them to Payplan, they have written back saying they have contacted Payplan asking for a copy of my income and expenditure report, so Do I need to fill in a new one telling them I am in Cyprus and giving expenditure details for here (actually it works out about the same);

I pay £200 per month towards the food and household bills
£25 per month for Car insurance
£20 per month toward maintenance and MOT for Car
£10 per month Pay as you go card for mobile
£16 per month for Dental and Medical insurance
£20 per month for petrol
= £291
+ £210 Payplan
=£510
Balance of £90.00 per month

Or shall I simply fill in the same details again for the UK and say I am living at my mothers address. I am not in any way trying to get out of paying, in fact I am due a payrise in January to £700 per month and will increase my DMP accordingly then but I donp;t want them to think that I am having a life of riley sunning myself and drinking cocktails.....stupid I know, I don't I work every weekday between 10am and 7pm and we lead a much simpler life over here....

I suppose I feel guilty to have been so damn stupid and got into this mess, cross I am in this mess and really guilty that out of the mess I have met someone I love who is happy to take me on and I anow living in a great place.

So people how do you think they will take my telling them I am living here?

Sorry for the long and rambling post

    hi,

if Payplan have already done your I&E for you, then you should stick to those figures for now, unless you have had a massive payrise in which case it is in your interests to increase the payments so your debt gets cleared as quickly as possible.

Payplan should contact you once a year to ask if your I&E has changed at all and you should be as honest as possible as sometimes creditors ask for proof of your incomes and expenses.

I wouldn't worry about telling them you have moved abroad, as long as you are honest they can't really say anything - the cost of living in Cyprus can't be that much more anyway.
  • I would be inclined to tell them, but then I don't know if there would be a problem for you if you did. That's just my opinion! It sounds as though you've had a hard enough time as it is by ending up paying such a large debt and I hope you are having a better life in Cyprus (my parents are out there now!) :D
    Mortgage-free wannabe!
  • Thanks for the advice guys,

I filled in my last IAE report last October so should be sent one soon. I will then give Payplan my latest details and address. Will leave contact address as my old address with creditors though (have organised to have post re-directed to Mothers for a year) at the moment Mother calls me and reads me letters over phone I then compose any replies and send to her in UK for posting.

Anyhow have now got over guilt about living in sunny clime as it is not like I spend all day shopping in Dior or sunning myself on a yacht (chance would be a fine thing).

Strange isn't it how once you have got yourself into debt and been feel that you have been a fool how you actually feel guilty about enjoying anything and feel that the creditors must be gnashing their teeth every time you have any enjoyment out of life. Crazy
