Want to break free of this debt

Where to start? I'm 20 but from the crap I've got through I feel much much older! I'm in debt of about £2000, give or take and have been now for the better part of a year.

All started when I got my own flat, things got tight but never so bad that I had to borrow money. I changed jobs as things where on the up and thought this would be the job for me (Going from 11k a year to 14k) however I was forced to leave after a paydispute and I didnt agree with there unethical selling policy (ramming PPI down the throats of 80 year old women didnt seem right to me) Because of the dispute (not paying me on the day they said) I had to take out a rather large overdraft with Yorkshire Bank, £500 in fact, to cover rent and everything else.
I thought this would be no problem given I was expected to earn £1100 or so a month however after losing my job and getting less then halve of my wage my overdraft snowballed. I've some wits about me and refused to go onto the Dole, I strongly believe it should be only used in the very most urgent of situations. I managed to get another job but it took some weeks and my Overdraft had gone from £500 to over a thousands pounds. I was suddenly now on less income and being paid weekly so maintaing the end of month DD was impossible I'd also taken out a contract phone after finshing my previous one. I ran into problems after a larger then expected gas & elecritcty bill hit me, I was faced with having gas or paying council tax.

Roll on April 08 and things had came to a head, I was overdraw, owed the council, I'd also taken out another contract phone because I had lost my other one and had no insurance. I was bailed out somewhat by a family memember and I got a loan with Yorkshire Bank to cover my overdraft. I've now hit a brick wall and I am really clueless on what to-do.

I've moved out of my flat and now live with my G/F mam and dad, I rent the spare room and thats fine however I've got debts still. I'm now working in a job I throughly enjoy but I get paid min wage and irregualrly by cheque. As a result I've only been once of £600 in the past 7 weeks. Because I was moving jobs and only previously got paid weekly I took out a payday advance loan to cover my rent and living costs, this meant that my phones and loan had be missed. To couple with that the family memeber demanded there money back of £300 so of the £600 I only kept £50 to get to live on for a month, It costs me £16 to get to work each week.
I've now defaulted on my loan, my mobile phones and I can't even face going back to my old flat to pick up the outstanding stuff there (gas/elecy mostly) I've cut back as much as possible, asked for as much time as possible but I've ran out of time and I've ran out of money. I've tried to apply for a loan but got refused. Vodaphone have sent me a letter from a debt collector for £500, Yorkshire Bank have demanded I pay £170 by July 7th or they will press for legal action and Three.co.uk are pushing to cancel my account and make the whole amount payable now. Top that off my phone and wallet was stolen in the past week.

I'm supposed to be getting paid 'in the first week of the next month' but my boss is extremely vague and becomes quite angry when I quizz him (I've since discovered the last guy left because he wasnt paid on time and went 8 weeks without pay) I've asked for BACs payments but he refuses. Barclays won't offer me anything to help my situation because of my poor credit rating and I can't borrow off family anymore. What should I do?

and I think to be honest you need to look for another job? or if not some kind of second job? sorry if that doesn't sound great, but if you don't have a regualr wage coming in yet you have a job its a bit of a no man's land, at least if you were out of work you could claim benefits and perhaps work something out re debts and if you had regular money you make a payment plan.

aside from that you do need to go to the CCCS who are free and will help you sort out a way to pay etc. Also look up your local citizens advice bureau and make an appoinment - they are busy but they will see you.

if you want to do something now, truthfully you do need to go back to old flat and pick up the mail and see what you owe. Horrible gut wrenchingness will follow but at least you will know what is going on.

Do post and read here as well, more people will answer you promise!

Could you not go for a PAYG phone? Also, what about changing the dates that your DD's leave your bank? Perhaps shortly after pay day so that you don't incur charges?
