Happy birthday to me (Well almost)!
I recieved a card yesterday from Sainsbury's wishing me happy birthday (my birthday is in 2 weeks) and a voucher for a free box of Elizabeth Shaw liqueur chocolates. Great I though, so I wandered down to my local Sainsbury's only to find out that they'd sold out.
Oh well I'll come back next week I thought. As I was heading to the checkout I read the small print on the voucher which said if they did not have the stock I could get the same value chocolates in a different range. I checked with the CS lady, and she agreed so off I went back to the chocolate isle with my £5.50 voucher to spend on expensive chocolate!
It was a tough decision, but after a lot of thought, I went with a box of Guylian choc's.
Went away very happy.
I didn't even like the Elizabeth Shaw one's anyway!0 -
Boots Advantage Card machine - voucher for free pack of Lotus Pure Cotton hankies in a 'pod'. Says 'ideal for allergy sufferers, 80% less dust (than other tissues). Usual price 99p.
Not free but got £2 back at M & S when I pointed out that Oakham chicken charged at full price but shelf label still said half price (it was then removed!).

Well what can I say except that I am still reeling.
For a few months now I have been wanting a new table and chairs as the present one was soooo cheap, now a leg keeps falling off. My problem is not money and I wanted to buy a nice table+chairs, but kept putting it off because having them delivered was difficult as I am always out and about, and so are my neighbours.
Which brings me to the happy conclusion. Said neighbours are redecorating big time so have bought a new trendy table and chairs and left the old ones outside, ready to be dumped on a skip. Whilst chatting with them I said they were the sort of things I was looking for, and could I buy them. They said no way, just take them. The whole set in is in perfect condition, solidly made and looks good in my flat.
That has saved me at least £100-150, what I was prepared to pay to buy new-ish. I gave them a nice bottle of quality wine, which I think is a real bargain.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
