Which way do people think the base rate will go ? Up or down over the next 2 years ?

    They'll go up - Forget about the BoE base rate, banks have lost/will lose so much capital they have two choices; bankruptcy or increase the spread (profit margin).

    Guess which one they'll choose. Future borrowers will pay for past lending mistakes

    Are we talking BoE base rate here ?

    If we are talking about mortgage deals from lenders its a totally seperate issue, they'll be continuing to rise.

    BoE base rate may stay the same. Mortgage rates only heading up for a good few years
