Funding/grants question

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on these boards for a couple of weeks now and I think you might all just be the right people to help me.
I graduated in 2006 with a chemistry degree, walk right into a job which I like most of the time. However, this is not my passion. My passion is British Sign language. I have completed some of my qualifications but due to buying my flat and doing it up I am in a wee bit of debt and don't want to go any further. The course I am interested in is £1500.
I am in Scotland, not eligible for a £200 ILA because I earn just over the threshold. But this doesn't mean that I can afford to pay for the course myself.
I know I can apply for a grant From GSEDD (Glasgow Society for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb) But I think they will only give around £500.
Does anyone know of anywhere else I could apply to?
I really want to do this without taking out a loan if at all humanly possible.
Thanks everyone!
(ps. sorry that was a wee bit long!)

My heart knows me better than I know myself so I'm going to let it do all the talking.

Hi and welcome KTjazz,
Just giving you a bump, have you tried posting on the Scotland board - it's worth sticking another iron in the fire.0 -
The only thing that I can think of is that whoever you are looking to do the course with should be able to advise you on what sorts of grants or bursaries might be available to you.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
Sealed Pot #389 (2010=£133)0 -
could you apply for the grant, and then ask to pay the rest in small installments??? i know the money would still have to come out of your pocket, but a small amout each month might be easier to manage...
maybe the place that ran the course might know of someone who would sponer you for the rest of the course???
good luck...
