Hmm. Not really sure where this fits in and whether or not it even deserves the support and sympathy you guys so regularly display on this board, but I am so fed up with myself and the debt situation I am in. The debts are entirely of my own making and get worse as I keep adding to them by foolish, emotional spending because I'm tired/depressed/angry/upset etc...
I know there's no magic words or spell that suddenly just makes everything click, but I am so tired of all this self-sabotage, if that doesn't sound so self-indulgent. I so badly need to be more disciplined and I find myself repeating the same patterns of behaviour over and over again.
I have taken some positive steps and hopefully, I will take some more. But just to say it's nice to know that there are others out there in similar situations and just a big thank you to all the people who post on these boards. You don't know what a big difference you all make.

Hiya hun,
Don't beat yourself up, we all have our reasons for being here, all you need to do is remember that the good people on this site will give you all the help and support you need. If you haven't already done so, why not put your SOA on here and let us try to help you even further. Don't forget we're here for support and the occasional shoulder to cry on.

Sarah,
Some links below that may be useful to you
If you post a full SOA (use the sticky to take you through to the calculator on www.makesenseofcards.com) then it is easier for us to give you some advice.
Just read the end of your post and you are planning to do this, well once you have pulled it all together go to www.whatsthecost.com and use the snowball calculator to work out how long it will take you to clear your debts.

I've actually got most of my debt repayments in order. Have rund up all the people I owe money too and renegotiated my monthly payments after working on a budget sheet I got through my local CAB (love these people!) - one of the National DebtLine ones.
My problem at the moment is that I keep spending the money that's supposed to be put aside for bills. And that sets off the whole bank charges thing as well...0 -
Is there a way to make sure you don't get your hands o the bill money? Why not have a separate account, and get them all on Direct Debit linked to that account. Then transfer the money in to cover them on payday, and make sure you cut up the card for the account. That's what we do, although we kept the card as it's the only one that's not a 'kiddy' card!
Don;t be too harsh, just make sure you do somthing abou it. Recognising the problem is half the job. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Evening, one thing that really helped me was a spending diary, knowing that I was going to have it staring me in the face again stopped me spending on rubbish I didn't need and helped me see that things that I thought I *needed* were costing me a fortune and made me rethink about how much I actually needed them.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
