Criminal Injuries Timescale For Straight Forward Claim

Hi,
Last November I was assualted in an unprovoked attack. My throat was slashed open (I was about a quarter of an inch from being killed) and the back of my head was burst open. The attack was with a broken bottle.
The guy was caught in February and plead guilty in May. He was sentenced a few weeks ago to a paltry 22 months but that's for another discussion.
Anyway I've put a claim in for Criminal Injuries through CICA. They have wrote to me a couple of times to let me know how the claim is processing, I received a letter from them in March telling me they were contacting the police to get more details. Then in May that part was obviously dealt with as I received a letter from them asking for pictures of my injuries and saying they will be contacting my doctor regarding any on going treatment, of which there is none.
I assume that will be the last part of the process and I should receive an offer pretty soon. Can anyone confirm / deny this.
When I originally claimed in January I was told that claims were taking around 6 months so that kind of fits in with everything.
Thanks
Billy

I help people with CICA claims, and normally tell them it can take up to 12mths, so 6mths is very quick. If you've just done your MQ things are moving along nice with no problems, but don't expect an offer for at least a month or so. Give the CICA a ring, they have an 0800 number, they will tell you where the claim is up to.A good cowboy always drinks upstream from the herd.

I'm going to give them a call this afternoon when I get home to see what they say.
What does MQ mean?
Edit: I just realised it stands for medical questionnaire.0 -
When my partner claimed it took over 18 months! The last letter we got from them was to send in pictures of his scar. After that we got out settlement figure, but it took about 3 months after the last letter.0

I called them earlier apparently I should receive an offer within 4 to 6 weeks of them receiving the pictures, which was the 9th June.
I don't want to seem nosy or know figures but was the settlement around what you were expecting? Looking at the site my payout will vary greatly depending on how they class the severity of my wounds.0 -
My claim (which was rejected - I wasn't seriously injured so it was no suprise really) took over 18 months to process.
I got letters asking for doctors details which took a while, and then police details, etc... took ages in the end.
I hope you get what you deserve, as that is what CICA are there for.Amo L'Italia0
