Long-Term DMP?

Hi there, just wanted to say well done for posting and give you my two penneth for what its worth, saying that...I don't have two penneths to rub together.

I posted on here a few weeks back, me and partner had £63k debts and I was in a real state and didn't know whether to do a DMP or go bankrupt. I had great support on this board and the BR board. I rang the CCCS and the NDL and went to see the CAB, CCCS told us to go on a DMP, but NDL and CAB said that BR was a better option as we would be paying it off forever on a DMP (I'm not working at the moment as well). Me and partner thought about it long and hard and as 80% of our debts were in my name, we decided that only I would go BR. Now I have made the decision, I feel loads better, we are selling our flat anyway, so are quite happy to go into rented for a while, will be nice to be mortgage free for a while, and the peace of mind we will both have, well we can't put a cost on that. My BR date is 3 July. It wasn't an easy decision but the right one for us.
Get all the advice you can from the organisations above and this place, and make sure you keep asking questions and do what is best for the two of you. Now you are actually doing something about it, I am sure you will start to feel a little better, I am a different person to the one who was posting on here in the middle of May.
I wish you all the very best. xx"Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"

Hi there, hope you don't mind my crashing your thread.
My Dad found that Payplan were a lot more encouraging than CCCS with regards to a DMP.
CCCS suggested £1 a month to each creditor, which means he would have been about 427 years old before he was clear (I'm joking, but you get my drift).
Payplan have taken a more flexible view to his budget - as a result he pays a reasonable amount to his creditors each month, and still has a little to live on.
So, give Payplan a call before you definitely decide. They may have a better solution for you.
Good luck!LBM November 2005: approx £32K :eek:Current debt: approx £12K :TGetting there one day at a time
