Ohhh I missed this post last night. Soooo sorry Ange, I'm eaten by consternation.

I just wander the boards now and then, exiting my natural home, DT. The trouble with me is:

I have no debts (sorry to be insensitive)
I have a job that entails eating out a lot so I'm saving already
I have seldome any meaningful advice to offer anywhere
Strictly speaking I do not NEED to be on this site (although of course I have received help and hints, especially in techie and Old style).

Yet I love every minute on mse because the vast majority of people are great and sincere, and the support I see for those having a hard time is nothing short of admirable. I have been here late at night when newbies were at their wits' ends with worry and some even talked about topping themselves. The unstinting help and advice they got here I'm SURE has saved some lives.

Therefore, even if I have no business in here, or the alcohol thread, or the depression thread, I do like to applaud and cheer people on now and then.

Let's call it reverse-trolling. I love it! :T

Hi Q .....strangely on reading this part of your post it brought back vivid memories for me!!

I too had very good job, high status in my organisation, ate with the CEO`s & in the best restaurants ...all on Company expenses tab!!!......in 2 years thats all gone & hey-ho...thats life I guess.

We none of us know what the future holds.

Ange, of course things can change overnight. Which is why I count my blessings and keep an eye on the future - it's the best any of us can do. MSE is a good place to arm ourselves against harsh times.

As for phil.... his red carpet has been put to good use.

Very wise Chick...keep looking all around & be aware of potential job issues well in advance. I guess that the economics of this recession are hitting everyone hard at the moment...no-ones job is safe anymore. The great thing about MSE is that there is somewhere for everyone on here.

As for Phil ( aka - the bouncy red muppet man :rotfl: :rotfl: ) ....I`ll get him to hoover the carpet ready for next time.....he`s good at man-chores....he keeps telling us anyway!!!:rotfl:

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.
