Debt passed to DCA - advice please

One of my creditors, Bank of Scotland (a Preference account), has already passed my debt onto a debt collector - Blair, Oliver and Scott. Am I right that these are just another part of BOS?

They have sent me what I assume is a regular letter wanting payment straight away or asking me to phone them, which I'm not going to do. I'm gonig to write to them telling them I'm with Payplan which BOS are aware of, and reminding them not to phone me.

Their letter threatens that they may send doorstep collectors round - I'm sure I've seen a template letter on here that more or less tells them they're not allowed on my property. Did I dream that or does anyone know where I can find it?

Would this now be a good time to ask for a CCA? I haven't asked for a CCA from any of my creditors yet but thought now this has gone to a DCA it would be a good idea.

Thanks in advance :)

Yep. Although some of their staff will even lie outright claiming that they are not. But they most certainly are BOS.

Maybe. What was the debt for? When was the original agreement taken out?

If you are with PayPlan, then it might be an idea to discuss that with them.

It was for a Preference Account, and I think I've had it for around 10 years. I've been paying it off without getting behind until this year.

I will speak to Payplan later and will send them a copy of the letter too.

    From Direct.gov.uk:

Debt collectors aren't court officials and don't have the same powers as bailiffs. They can't enter your home or seize your possessions.

So don't worry about that threat. They are just trying to scare you.

That's encouraging, BrokenHearted. I'm just about to write to them to tell them my Payplan number but it's good to know they've been good with other people. Bank of Scotland haven't hassled me that much either, which has helped the stress levels!
