How do I become a member of Shopandscan?

Yup! Shop and Scan are run by the people behind TNS. Toluna test and vote works with all the major data collectors I think, that is why they sometimes have invitations for AC Neilson too.
Shop and Scan - They either send you an email invite or they advertize as on the site VolunteerforPanels when they need more people.
AC Neilson run FactFinders, which is their version of the shopping studies. Unlike Shop and Scan which just has a little tiny scanner for the bar codes on your shopping which you have to remember to connect to your PC and upload the data each week to get your rewards, Factfinders have a large scanner which clicks into a large base station, the base station (scanner charger) is connected to your phone line and automatically gives them the data from it when they request through the phoneline. Less likely to forget to upload with Factfinders, as they collect for you.
I am a member of both and have been for over a year now. The points on Factfinders do take longer to mount up for the rewards that you pick from a special site in which you get actual items. Shop and Scan give you a choice of vouchers to chose from and they mount up well if your are saving for xmas etc....
I honestly have not had a problem with either of them. I have also found that it is much harder to get into the AC Neilson Factfinders than it is to get into Shop and Scan. Due to having to be invited by them to join.
Both do only take an extra few minutes when you are unpacking your shopping, so is worth it in my opinion anyway."Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass....it's about learning how to dance in the rain"0 -
Sorry to slightly hijack the thread, but referance to AC Neilson prompts me to report that I had a letter this morning from them.
Their I-scan is closing mid July, points to be redeemed by December, or lose them
The I-scan for those not aware is for scanning bought out & consumed food, pub lunch, tea & cake in a cafe etcEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Just got my letter too.
Was getting sick of doing it for stupid points.
Shop and scans a lot better.0 -

Hi there,
Yes, my friend was notified too about I-scan as she is a member. I didn't join that panel at the time, Just the AC Neilson Factfinders, which covers all the things you buy and bring into your home. Everything seems as normal with Factfinders though, since its a different research panel."Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass....it's about learning how to dance in the rain"0 -
Be aware shop and scan are great until their equipment stops working then they sack you! That's what happened to me anyhow0

Sorry to hear that happened to you.
I haven't had the same problems, thank goodness.
With Shop and Scan, Ive ran out of batteries in the scanner twice, and the cable which connects to the pc stopped working too. Each time, they have sent out new ones very quickly."Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass....it's about learning how to dance in the rain"0 -
