I ask this because my DH has had a bumper crop and has frozen bags of them. I doubt if it'll work but what do you experst think?

The question isn't if you can freeze them - as your DH has found out, that's easy
Whether they'll defrost satisfactorily is another matter. IMHO as they have a high proportion of water, that will break open the cell walls and they'll lose their crispness on thawing.
Successional sowing is the answer

I agree, I've never frozen radishes but feel sure they'll go soggy when defrosted.Penelope_Penguin wrote: »IMHO as they have a high proportion of water, that will break open the cell walls and they'll lose their crispness on thawing.0 -
Yes that's what I meant:rolleyes:
Listen: If you can tell my OH about not sowing an entire packet of seeds all at once you're better than I. i refer you to the millions of radishes that we hardly eat and I wouldn't have bothered sowing at all!Penelope_Penguin wrote: »The question isn't if you can freeze them - as your DH has found out, that's easy

Do you know anybody else who grows stuff? Lots of people finish up with a surplus of something - maybe you can do a bit of bartering with them.0 -

So then, become the seed keeper and only let him have an allowance of seeds every month.
i hate radishes myself, straight to the compost bin with them.0 -

I will have to wait for the repeat.
I'm going to defrost some of the radishes and see what they're like - maybe make sorbet!!Penelope_Penguin wrote: »Did you see Hugh F-W make a type of raitha using raw radish and goats cheese

That sounds fab - I'd like to try that too! I remember reading in one of Hugh F-W's books that he tries to persuade veg plot owners to abandon growing radishes and grow strawberries instead! Apparently lots of people grow radishes and then don't eat them. Whereas strawberry growers are fewer, but they can never grow enough :-)"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
You can cook radishes....I've done it before. According to the recipe they were supposed to taste like asparagus when cooked....I can't say they did, but they were quite tasty.....
