Can't find MS Word

My machine was running very slowly the other day so I cleaned it up with instructions I had run off from this site. I also deleted programmes, some of which I had not used since 2002. Now I cannot find WORD and need to type some letters. I can't see how I will have deleted this. I did delete things like MS Autoroute and a couple of other large programmes none of which (I don't think) will have contained WORD. Do you think I will need to download it again? I was hoping not to download anything for a while now that my computer is working well.

I think it is likely you have just deleted the shortcut, not the actual program.
Click on your Start menu, then All Programs. Can you find Word in there? It might be through something on the All Programs menu called Microsoft Office.
If you find it, right-click on it and click "Send to" then "Desktop (Create Shortcut) It will then be on your main computer screen again.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
See if you can find a word document that you have saved and try to open it, that will tell you if you have deleted the program or not.
You could also look in add/delete programs.0 -
go to c:/program files/microsort office/
there should be something like an "office11" folder in here... look inside this folder and you should find winword.exe.. right click and drag to your desktop to place a shortcut there..0 -

I thought you were one of my grandsons there for a minute!
I think I know what you mean TS - it will be on one of the original XP discs?
Anyway, I will try the other suggestions now.
It was good though, to have my computer working well again after the cleanup.0 -

I have now had a look at "Add Remove Programs" and had a look at
Microsoft Words Ad-in and Microsoft Works Set up Launcher and found nothing relevant. Also did a search for Winword.exe - nothing was revealed.
Did the same with other likely programs and got nowhere. There was no Microsoft Office in he Add/Remove programs list which is strange considering that I was able to open a document as suggested by Torbrex.
There is a program called Open Office. don't laugh but I seem to have the
the installation instructions for it but not the program. I'll go so if it is possible to download. All this just to type one letter!0 -

I was considering downloading Open Office last night but noticed that it is a large programme and as I have recently been cleaning my computer and getting rid of unused programmes I will leave that for the time being and see if I can do what you suggest i.e. "go to new". Seem to remember (but not always:rolleyes: ) that I did try this when Torbrex suggested opening a document.
Thank you anyway.0
