Broken Eggs

Hi everyone,
Last week whilst removing the shopping from the car, the box if eggs toppled and one of them broke slightly. It didn't completely smash, but did break open to expose the egg inside. Anyway, rather than throw it away, I kept the broken egg in the fridge with the others.
Is there any reason why the egg wouldn't be ok to eat? I didn't want to waste it, but don't want to risk any food poisoning or anything either!
Thanks for your help.

I would think you'd be able to tell if it's not all right, it will stink when you open it. Use it for cooking or something rather than a boiled egg and then you'll be able to tell before it's too late

I have done exactly the same thing before now - kept it in the fridge and made sure i did scrambled egg or an omelette within the following couple of days. it was fine.

air will have got inside which will have started to dry the egg out but that is the worst that will have happened I'm sure. I wouldn't eat an egg that was broken in the box if I didn't know when it got broken as I wouldn't know how much air had got in..
If the yolk still looks plump and not too wrinkly, and the white is still viscous and not too runny, then you'd be fine using that egg.0 -
Agree with others, in fact we used to be able to buy cheap cracked eggs once, seems to have stopped since salmonella scaresWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
