Digital Camera from Canada?

Is it worth considering buying a digital camera whilst in Canada? Is it like buying in the USA (e.g. price of $1 U.S. equates to £1)? Or are there pitfalls like power supply issues?

Any help and suggestions welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

The current exchange rate is approximately $2 Canadian for every £1. If you're going to buy anything electrical in Canada though you should look for something that runs on conventional batteries; all mains-operated equipment runs at ~115V as opposed to ~230V here in the UK, and the plugs are a different shape. In other words, if you were to buy a digital camera powered by a proprietary rechargable battery, you'd have to buy another battery charger as soon as you got home.

It might be worth making sure what accessories are included. There are international variations. For instance, I bought a Nikon Digital Camera online from the US about 4 years ago. It shipped as standard with a disposable battery (not rechargeable). UK versions of the same camera however, came supplied with an EN-EL1 battery and charger. I had to buy these separately for £40 in the UK.

Also warranties are worth checking on. Not all manufacturers have Worldwide ones. If there was a problem with the camera it's possible that you might have to return it to Canada for fixing.

A minor issue. If you wanted to view your photos on a UK television a Canadian camera might not output a PAL signal. I assume Canada is an NTSC region?.
Ye'!, And!!?. How am I supposed to know?
