I want to buy a pressure cooker

I think a pressure cooker would be a good idea. I'll be working full time soon and don't think I will have time for my occasional fortnightly cook off. Knowing my regular routine, I'm looking at leaving the house around 7am and coming home around 7-8pm (dropping off child, picking up child etc.) Is 12 hours too long to leave a slow cooker on? I won't be working anywhere near home so can't check on food either. Has anyone used one of those plug timers?

I have a OH so something for 2 adults and a child. But i like to also cook an extra portion or two so that I can freeze. What size is good?

Normally my cook and freeze recipes are...
- lentil and carrot soup
- beef and carrot stew

I love curry but never cook it well. I'm also suspicious of the idea of cooking chicken for more than an hr and a half so will prob. not cook chicken in a slow cooker.

Any recommendations? I like the look of this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000C6WH1/ref=s9sims_c4_img1-rfc_g1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=0Z6MHE091WZ7YP8CJKK4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=139045791&pf_rd_i=468294

but don't know if it will suit my lifestyle/needs. Also amazon was the first place i looked and its the best seller so its top of the list. Should I be shopping a bit more carefully?

Also do slow cookers generally save money when taking into account electricity? I'm not sure about the idea of leaving something switched on for 10 hrs but regularly make stock from stratch so is it the same sort of energy consumption?
