I wanna 2nd/3rd stage isofix car seat-cheap!!

I have been trawling the internet for weeks looking for an isofix seat suitable for my very petite 6yr old.I have found the recaro monza seatfix and the britax 2-3 isofit that seem very good quality(the jane one is very flimsy feeling as i have managed to see it in a local shop!),i have read so many horror stories about just using a booster seat that i has scared me to death! She is so little and light that i feel she needs more protection in the event of a crash and boosters just dont offer this.
My question is does anyone have either seat and if so what are to pros and cons if any.......and where on earth can i get one for around £100!!

I feel it must be isofix as i have 3 kids altogether in the backseat and think it would also offer them some side impact protection compared to a regular high back booster as it remains rigid to the car instead of moving all over the place like the one we currently have!
many thanks for any help ps im in Northern Ireland and cant find any online deals that offer free delivery for us  Halfords are looking an additional £14 postage:eek: ........and its free everywhere else!

Hi Laura, the Britax Evolva 2/3 Isofit is definitely the one to get IMHO. We have one and we spent absolutely ages looking for the right seat for our 3 year old. It's really easy to fit, is very comfortable and safe. It came top in the Which car seat tests for that stage seat, if you subscribe to Which you can even watch a video of it in action on their website. The Recaro seat you mentioned performed poorly in front-on crashes according to Which. This will tell you if the Britax seat is suitable for your car: http://www.britax.co.uk/images/stories/britax_evolva_23_isofit_24102007.pdf

I would recommend that you go to a shop and get it fitted properly though - do you have a Mothercare or Toys R Us you can go to, as they both sell it? You need to check that it will fit in your car with your other 2 children in the back as well, as it has quite wide side wings (for good side protection). We made the mistake of buying our first car seat online from Halfords, as the one we wanted wasn't stocked locally. We had it delivered to our house but took it to a local Halfords store where they fitted it incorrectly and we later discovered (from another store) that it wasn't suitable for our car anyway. We got a refund from Halfords and bought the Britax Evolva 2/3 Isofit from a Mothercare store, who fitted it for us. It was £130 but it's an excellent seat and was definitely worth the money. You say you can afford £100 - couldn't you manage the extra £30 to get the best seat? Hope you manage to find one, I know what a nightmare it is looking for car seats!

The seat Britax Evolva 2/3 mentioned below (in red) is on special offer on the Mothercare website at the moment at £116.99, I've just ordered a highchair and managed to find a discount code, if you use this code you could get the seat for £98.54 - in your £100 budget!

The code is EM8, and if you use Quidco you could get 7% cashback until 5th July (normally 5%).

    I hope this helps.

I've got the Evolva2/3 Isofit and am very happy with it.

Like Minerva69 said above you will need to see whether it will fit in your car with 2 other children in the back.. The wings are very wide on it, needed for the excellent side impact protection the seat offers.

This is the link to Which crash test video. My child was already in a high back booster seat, but I wasn't happy with it. I feel much happier now as I know the Isofix will hold the seat in place, and my child's head is better protected.
  • thank you all for the help, this is the only site i trust for information!!!

BUT...i treid the mothercare link with the discount code (thanks for that:T ) and it all went through UNTIL..........they wont deliver it to Northern Ireland:mad:    My goodness we are part of the uk.....not the back end of no where,id like to see how well it would be accepted if we had all the excellent deals and good value and refused to include the 'mainland' uk a share of it!
    *sorry rant over*
I will of course find the extra few pounds-i would never put a price on any of my childrens safety-babies r us seem to have one in store for £129.99 hope our local one have them!
