Any yoghurt makers about?

This is next on my list to stop buying from shops :D

Can anybody tell me how you make your yogurt - do you use a yoghurt maker? And what does it taste like? Any tips?

    I use an easiyo without sachets, use a litre of uht milk, a tablespoon of the previous batch of yoghurt (or a tbs of live yoghurt from a carton for the first time) then a tbs of milk powder to thicken, mix well, add honey if we want a sweet yoghurt then fill outer pot with boiling water and add easiyo inner pot. leave until done:D

    Hi, I've just started making yogurt with an EasyYo. I am still experimenting (one too runny, one curdled and one just right so far - I sound like Goldilocks LOL). My too runny one was with Yeo Valley as a starter, which loads of people on here use successfully, and my just right was with Activia. I want to try using Yakult as a starter as it really helps my IBS, but costs a packet!

    Anyway, to me it tastes like shop bought natural yogurt but a little milder. I like it on its own or with fruit puree.

    I am trying to convert DD to it, but so far she will only eat it with Tesco value strawberry milk pudding stuff stirred into it to make it like commercial kids yogurt. It adds back in all the thickeners and colourings and sweeteners she is used to! My main aim was to reduce the number of unrecyclable yogurt pots we were sending to landfill, though, so in a way I don't mind putting gunk into it for her as it is probably still better than the commercial stuff and is generating less waste.

    The professionals will no doubt be along to give you better advice in a tick!

    My daughter is only one and normally only eats natural yoghurt, so she hopefully won't notice. Muahahahaha....

    I use live yogurt and UHT whole milk in an Easiyo ;) I set it up in the evening and it's ready in the morning.

    I put mine on when I go out to work and it's ready when I get home, so mine is left about 8 hours or so.

    I have one of the old bel yoghurt makers which contain six glass jars that the yoghurt is made in.I add one tsp ready-made natural yoghurt to each jar and then top up with uht milk at room temp.Put on the lid and turn on.I leave it 6hours and then remove the jars and put them in the fridge.Its as easy as that and believe it or not it tastes like natural yoghurt:rotfl:

    Ive just started making it in a flask, same recipe as CoD (except i used normal semi skimmed milk), but just heat up the flask with boiling water (then tip it away) before adding ingredients, leave till morning, hey presto yogurt.

    My easiyo in gathering dust and im going to break it out again this week. I normally use natural yoghurt but like the idea of using other types of yog to start it off ( I use UHT milk) Can I use any type of yog to start off? I ask as I saw a lady uses Actimel is the yog you end up with the same as actimel, if you use it as a starter.

    I make yogurt in the Easiyo maker, and I use semi-skimmed milk, and 2 tbsps of milk powder, and one heaped tbsp of live yog. I get mixed results if I use a spoonful of the present yog to make a new batch, so i usually buy a fresh pot, and freeze the rest, for the next starter.

    Whe the yogurt is done 'yogging', I usually tip it all into a seive lined with a muslin cloth, and place it over a bowl - put into the fridge for about 3 hours. This straining makes the yogurt thicker and just like Greek yog - really creamy.

    I then flavour it with fruit syrup - I use the Polish deli-style raspberry syrup - it's lovely, and the kids love it.
