How to pay a ccj?

There is a ccj on my OH credit file and we want to pay it so that the matter is settled but how do you go about it?
Do you contact the OC to make the full payment or do you have to get the ccj set aside in court in order to be able to make the payment? Also if it is set aside and a new judgement entered then this means that this will remain on his credit file as satisfied for another 6 years surely. The ccj was filed in 2004 so it would be a shame for him to have it on his credit file even longer just because he is willing to settle.
