A stewed fruit/cake combo?

I'm clearing out the freezer and want to use up a tub of mixed stewed fruit I made months ago. I also have 8 eggs to use up quickly as they are a day or so past their use by date. I used the last tub as a crumble a couple of days ago so want to do something different.
Apart from just heating it up and doing a separate sponge cake, does anyone have any recipes for combining the 2 in some way? Or a way of using the fruit with some kind of egg based dessert??

What sort of fruit is it

My first thoughts were a variation on apple cake or oat slices.
Do come back and let us know what you decide

What about a fruit cobbler - as per black saturns thread.
ETA - actually I dont think that contained egg (sorry not very helpful)0 -
I've done stewed fruit cakes loads of times and I usually put the fruit at the bottom of the tin/dish and a plain sponge cake mix on top.It turns out like a variation on Eves pudding and is lovely hot or cold

You could also use it as a topping for a cheesecake - I reccomend Nigella's London recipe. Or it could work as a breakfast with muesli and yoghurt.I like you. I shall kill you last.0

If you put your stewed fruit in the base of a tin - I have done this in traybakes and circular cake tins, put 'ordinary' vanilla sponge cake mix over the top you have a yummy cake/pudding (depends on how much fruit there is)
lovely still warm either on its own or with cream/custard (use for some more eggs!)0 -
It's a mixture - bit of a Heinz 57 really - plums, apples, apricots plus a dollop of mince meat thrown in. There's a very full metal takeaway tub full.
I've tried BS cobbler (I'm a long time lurker
) but could never get it to work for me.
I think I'll go for the fruit on the bottom and vanilla sponge on top - just wanted to make sure it would work first from your experiences!Pay off a Debt by Christmas 2008 Challenge: £1500 overdraftTotal paid off: £235Comping: July wins: The Who tribute band tickets (£24), MP3 download, Man Utd DVD (£17), Life's too F'ing short book (£13)0
