co op cashminder

These might be a stupid questions but I just wanted to check. I know the co op account accepts people who are bankrupt and that any bank accounts open when you go bankrupt get frozen for a time then most banks will close the account. But if you already have the co op cashminder when you go bankrupt will they close the account and make you apply for a new one? How long does it take for the account to be unfrozen? Would it be quicker to open the account after the court date?

It will be a while before I've got the money to go bankrupt and need an account in the meantime.

I opened my Coop cashminder account 5 months before going BR and it wasn't frozen. Be sure you tell the OR that it is a cashminder and they won't be interested in it.

  • Similar experience to fiveyearplan. Opened coop a month before bankruptcy, wages and pension going in and dds going out that I need to keep. Told them in advance I would be going bankrupt, no problem. Explained to OR what account was for, he told me he would write and inform them he had no interest, and for me to ring to say was actually BR.

Rang coop, still no problem, this type account is set up for people in my position apparently, and account has not been frozen.

    All the best.
